Kids at Gracepoint
KidsPoint is a safe place for children from birth through 5th grade to go every Sunday for a church experience tailored only for them. Our caring, background checked, predator awareness trained leaders spend time walking the children through fun, age-appropriate environments where they learn about Jesus and the Bible in creative ways. KidsPoint is available at both the 9:00 and the 10:45 services every Sunday.
Your First Visit
Here’s what to expect the first time you drop off your kids at KidsPoint.
When you walk into the church, look toward the back of the sanctuary. There are two KidsPoint check-in/out stations. One is at the top of the stairs to the second story of the building, where babies through 3 year olds meet. The other check-in station is directly below, on the first floor near the gathering places of our preschool through 5th graders. At either station, we will be happy to meet your family, check your child(ren) into our electronic system, and make sure they get to the correct place(s).
Upon checking in for the first time, we will ask for the following personal information
NOTE: We value your privacy and will not share this information with anyone.
- Parent/Guardian name(s)
- Child’s name
- Child’s birthdate
- Home address
- Phone number
- Email address
- Any special instructions (allergies, special needs) for your children
Or, if you wish, you can preregister your household by clicking on the button below. If you prefer to register in person for the first time, we recommend planning on spending an extra 10 minutes before church for the process.
How check-in works
Before Service:
Check in at the KidsPoint table where your child(ren) will receive a printed tag with their name and an individualized code on it. You will receive a corresponding printed label that you will keep with you during the service. It is very important that you keep this label for check-out. We recommend peeling the back paper off and sticking the label to your clothing.
*IMPORTANT: All of your children may be checked in at either station, but when you check them out after the service, children under 4 must be checked out upstairs and older children must be checked out downstairs. Make sure to keep your label to show at both stations.
During Service:
In the event that we need to contact you during the service, we will either find you in service and ask you to come to KP, or your family’s individualized code will appear on the screens next to the stage. We ask that you immediately head toward KidsPoint and locate a volunteer in an orange KidsPoint shirt who will direct you to your child.
After Service:
At the end of the service, you will return to the check-in/out stations and show your household label to a volunteer who will call for your child(ren) to be brought to you. You must have your individualized label with you in order to pick up your child from KP. You may give your label to another adult family member to pick up your children, but without the label, will not be able release your child without taking other, more time consuming measures to ensure you are a safe person for them to go with. The safety of your kids is incredibly important to us, and we cannot make exceptions in this area. Thank you for understanding!
Common KidsPoint Happenings
On any given Sunday, all children age 2 and older will enjoy group worship, bible stories, games, activities, snacks (if they’re a toddler), projects, puzzles, crafts, coloring sheets and more! Group memory verse practice is always included, and we make it fun for the older kids to learn the books of the Bible and the order they go in, as well as how to look up specific verses.
All children age 4 and up are encouraged to bring their own Bible each week. Sweet rewards are given to those who do so and/or say the month’s memory verse to a check-out leader upon heading home.
We host a couple of family-focused events each year where we provide a place for families to do fun and unique activities together. We can also be a source of encouragement and partnership in walking with you as you disciple your kids at home during the week. We can suggest books, studies, games, conversation starters and more to enable you to lead your family to follow the Lord more intimately.
KidsPoint Leadership
Our KidsPoint leadership team is committed to teaching your children about Jesus through the mission of KidsPoint: Training up future adults to follow Jesus and equipping families to disciple them at home.
Our team sees and treats each child with true respect, as whole people made in the image of God who deserve to know Truth. To these women, KidsPoint is not “childcare,” but a place where children are shown what it looks like to be a lifelong Jesus follower.
Tonya Nance
Tonya has been directing and coordinating the ministry needs for babies and toddlers in KidsPoint since the birth of Gracepoint in 2019. Her experience with kids goes way back to middle school, serving in churches with kids of all ages, but her favorites have always been the littles. She also has an education and career background in early childhood education. Tonya and her husband, Brandon, who also serves in many other capacities at Gracepoint, have been married since 2013. They have two dogs, Scottie and Stella. Tonya loves serving in kids ministry because it allows the children to start to learn about their Savior, and at the same time, their adults get to fully participate and experience who Jesus is in the adult worship service. Tonya is a fully practical girl when it comes to her hobbies. She enjoys spreadsheets, organization, and anything to make life a little simpler.
As a part of our next steps as a church, Gracepoint is in the process of finding a Next Gen Pastor! This position will be overseeing and directing the vision of KidsPoint and Credo Student Ministry. Join us in praying for who God is preparing to lead us in the years to come!
Ready to Serve in KidsPoint?
There are many serving opportunities within KidsPoint. If you like to teach, be a classroom helper, play with babies, herd toddlers, or reason with pre-teens, we have a place for you! Maybe you would prefer to host a large group lesson time, lead worship, or simply greet families? Even if you don’t know where you might fit in but would like to talk about serving on the team, we would love to connect with you!
If you are 17 years or older and this sounds like you, we have made it super simple for you to find and fill out the KidsPoint Volunteer Application. Just click HERE!
For those 11-16 years old who want to serve, we also have a limited number of junior leader positions open for those in middle school and high school who have a heart and gifting for working with younger children. These students will always serve alongside at least 2 adult leaders and have proven to be a great help and source of fun as they volunteer in the classrooms of the age groups they are most comfortable with. These students are also very welcome to help with check-out after each service.
There is an application for junior leaders, followed by an interview between the student’s parent(s), the student and the kids ministry director, and/or a pastor. The application for junior leaders can be found HERE.
The safety of your children is highly important at Gracepoint! The application and screening processes are designed to create the safest environment for children and students who participate in the programs of GP.
